New arrival of Engine 83-4. An 8 person Spartan cab built by 4-Guys in Meyersdale, Pa. arrived after being on display at the Harrisburg Fire Expo. After installing necessary equipment and completing training by Hale representatives, Engine 83-4 will take its place as first run on fires and accidents. Powered by a 425hp Cummins, this engine has a Hale 2000gal CAFS pump with 40 gal foam, and 1000gal water tank. An 8kw hydraulic generator provides power for lighting and tools. 6 750w quartz lights surround the engine. Two 150ft electric reels are mounted on both sides with 2 500w portable quartz lights and an electric positive pressure fan. With 7 SCBA seats, this engine has 1000ft 5" and 600ft 3" supply lines. Attack lines are a pre-connected front mount 150ft 1 3/4". Pre-connected Cross lays are 2- 200ft, a 400ft 1 3/4" lines. Rear hose bed lines are a 400ft 1 3/4" pre-connect, and 200ft 2 1/2" Blitz line. A 1" 150ft booster reel completes the hose complements. Most lines are CAFS compatable. Two Hurst extrication tools, Maverick and O-Cutters, are pre-connected from the rear. Other equipment includes cribbing, windshield cutters, a sawzall, shovels, brooms, and EMS gear. Roof, extension, and closet ladders along with pike poles, combo tool sets, and drywall hooks complete the hand tools. A Tempest vent saw completes the equipment.
