Delaware Forestry fights California Wildfires - California
Friday, July 25, 2008
Firefighter and Lieutenant Scott Veasey, along with Delaware Forestry personnel, has returned safely from a two week tour in California. Working in steep terrain in extremely dry conditions was the order of the day. They assisted Western Hot Shots with clearing fire breaks and back burns. Their accommodations were tents and what they could carry. The fires, heat, and terrain were handled but the poison oak which is abundant affected most personnel. A second Delaware Forestry crew with Millsboro firefighter Andy Atkins is now on station in California.
