Black ice was covering many Sussex county roads on Friday evening. Members of the Millsboro Fire Company were on scene of a MVA on Hollyville Rd when they were called to a vehicle overturned on Hardscrabble Rd. When arriving on scene, a single vehicle was located in a field over a hundred feet from the main road. The vehicle, which had overturned multiple times in a sod field, had ejected one occupant and left another trapped in the vehicle. SCEMS Paramedics arrived and began assessment and treatment of patients. Engine 83-2 arrived and was given extrication assignments directed by Deputy 83. Rescue 83, responding from the MVA on Hollyville Rd, arrived to assist with extrication and medical assistance. EMS transport units from Sta 93 Georgetown and Sta 79 Gumboro arrived for transport to available medical facilities. Fire Police from Millsboro and Georgetown closed the icy road until operations were complete.
