Structure fire with Haz Mat - Mountaire Farms

Millsboro and Indian River Fire Companies responded to a structure fire at Mountaire. On arrival a block building was involved with heavy fire and smoke. The roof had collapsed and the block walls had fallen in. Workers identified there was chlorine in the building used for water treatment. Hand lines were extented to the doors and windows to extinguish the fire. Unable to access the roof Ladder 80 was utilized with foam lines to complete the extinguishment. SCEMS Haz Mat Decon team responded to decon firefighters that might have been exposed to chlorine. DNREC and the fire marshall placed the stituation under control after inspecting the building.
