Millsboro Volunteer to Idaho - Millsboro
Tuesday, August 7, 2012
One of Millsboro Fire Company's members, Scott Veasey, is part of a 20 man crew which was dispatched on a 2 week assignment this past Tuesday to fight the 8800 acre Cave Canyon wildfire, burning just south of Twin Falls, Idaho. The crew is made up of public agency employees, volunteer firefighters from across the State and private citizens with an interest in fighting wildfires. Crew members must hold current "red-card" certification from the National Wildfire Coordinating Group. Certification requires attendance at the DSF annual "Fire Camp" live burn session and a strenuous work capacity test in which participants must carry a 45 pound pack over a three mile course in less than 45 minutes, as well as completion of core training classes.
